Joe’s passion for cycling began in junior high school during which he would race at the local Trexlertown Velodrome. He was drawn back to cycling as an adult while watching the Philadelphia Core States race in 2003 when top pro tour teams still participated. That 2003 Philly race sparked his love of cycling and he immediately began racing in regional races. His racing focus was initially Road and Criterium. Over the past six years, Joe shifted gears and focused more on Cyclocross.
Joe has made strategic moves in both his personal and professional life which would solidify cycling as a permanent component of his daily life. In 2010, Joe and his long-time cycling coach, Brian Walton started PA Masters Racing team along with a core group of less than ten cycling pals. Today, PA Masters has grown into a nationally-recognized team of over 30 talented and competitive men and women cyclists.
To ensure that Joe is always in the saddle, he managed to merge his day job (law) with cycling. His Personal Injury firm specializes in cycling law and advocacy for cyclists. Piscitello Law has been a long- standing supporter of the Philadelphia Bicycle Coalition in their efforts to improve cycling access and infrastructure in the region. Joe serves on the Advisory Board for the Coalition’s Cadence Youth Cycling program which engages urban kids into the world of cycling as a platform to build confidence. For the past several years, Joe has joined Walton Endurance to serve as a Ride Leader/Coach in several U.S.- based and European corporate rides.
In August of 2017, Piscitello Law was invited to join the Bike Law Network of cycling attorneys in the U.S. and Canada. The Network focuses on best practices and collaboration among cycling attorneys to improve the legal rights of cyclists across the country and in Canada. Joe and Piscitello Law now represent the Bike Law Network for the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Joe lives in Philadelphia with his super supportive wife, Marissa Perrone. They have two adult sons, Antonio and Michael, and two Chow-Chow dogs, Luca and Bella.
